Hey there, I'm Matt! Like many dancers, my journey began unexpectedly – in 2015, I fell head over heels for Cuban Salsa while living abroad. I'd literally dream about dancing at night, watching my skills grow from awkward beginner to someone who could feel that magical partner connection. Before I knew it, I was hooked on Semba, Kizomba, and a whole world of partner dances I never knew existed. But here's the thing – as a frequent traveler, I kept missing out on amazing dance opportunities. There's nothing worse than landing in a city and finding out you just missed an epic festival or social! (Well, except maybe booking your flights for the wrong dates – which I've done more times than I care to admit! 📷)
It got so bad that my friends stopped traveling with me to dance events. Can you blame them? I was the guy who'd either miss the flight or show up on the wrong weekend! Between coordinating festivals, socials, flights, hotels, class schedules, and trying to meet up with dance friends – it was chaos.
That's when it hit me: there had to be a better way. And that's exactly why WeDance was born! We're creating the service I wished I had all those years ago – one place to coordinate everything dance-related, from events to connections.
Thanks for checking us out! We're here to make your dance journey smoother than my early adventures, and we can't wait to help you experience everything this amazing community has to offer! Have a kind time.
Hi—Jason here! My dance journey started a little differently than most. When a close friend suggested I try Salsa, I laughed it off and said, “No way!”
Everything changed, though, when I stumbled into a Cuban Salsa club at university. What began as a hesitant, clumsy, out-of-my-comfort-zone experience quickly became a full-blown passion. Before long, I was hooked on Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba – dancing until dawn, driving hours for socials, and even stepping into small teaching and performing roles I never imagined I’d try.
As I moved to different cities and traveled internationally, I connected with incredible dancers from many vibrant dance communities and built friendships that have lasted well beyond the dance floor. I discovered just how welcoming and supportive the global dance community is. But figuring out what socials, workshops, or festivals were happening nearby was always a challenge, and I often found myself scrambling to get the details or just missing out altogether. Sound familiar?
That’s how WeDance was born. Matt and I both felt the same frustration and saw the same need for a solution. Together, we envisioned Step: a platform to simplify the chaos and make it easier for dancers, organizers, and talent to connect and collaborate.
Thanks for being here and joining us on this journey! Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected global dance community – one step at a time. See you on Step and (hopefully!) on the dance floor soon!
